Amber Steady of Waterford, Connecticut’s Top 5 Songs That Inspire Me To Write Book One Of My Book Series was the centerpiece of Episode 74.  Amber is presently writing a fantasy book series and her song selections were all related to fantasy books of related to her book and it’s characters in some way. The rest of the show was all songs relating to literature, books or reading.  Even the cover set! Among the artists featured were Coheed & Cambria, Imagine Dragons, Radiohead, Nick Lowe and Jill Tracy

It was a relaxed night of music with no particular theme on Episode 72. It included new music by Caroline Polachek, St. Vincent and Childish Gambino. Three Jesse Winchester songs were featured in the cover set. Other artists heard from were Wilco, William Bell, Charlotte Day Wilson, Taylor Swift, Buddy and Julie Miller, The Sad Bastards Of Brooklyn and Maktub to name but a few.

Episode 70: 10/7/24

Episode 70 featured the first artist spotlight segment since The Can You Feel It Radio Show returned to the air in May 2023. Sadie Fine, an exciting young alt-pop singer/songwriter based in Clarksville, Tennessee was featured in interview and music. Also featured were sets of great, instantly lovable pop songs from every decade from the 1960s to present day as well as a set of music by three seminal alt-pop female singers from the 1990s.

Episode 69: 9/30/24

My initial idea for the 69th episode was too work all five versions of the Tom Waits song “Way Down In The Hole” that had served as the theme song for all five seasons of the HBO crime drama The Wire into the show and it evolved into a tribute to the songs of Tom Waits and it became an entire show of covers of his songs performed by over 20 artists that included Rosanne Cash, The Ramones, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and three foreign language covers.

We began episode 68 with two sets of country music duos who are/were couples in real life. This week set featuring miscellaneous covers of plastic soul songs. Artist featured include Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, Dan Auerback, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, The Wrights, The Gregg Allman Band, Dori Freeman and others.

Episode 67: 9/16/24

David Watson of Clarksville, Tennessee’s Top 5 Songs That Feel Like A Hug When You Need It Most was the centerpiece of episode 67. David’s Top 5 included songs by Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, Billy Joel, Mac Miller and Billy Idol. We also featured two songs and an interview snippet from a new, up-and-coming Clarksville artist, Sadie Fine, a set of three covers from the year 2002 and two sets of music by artists from Murray, Kentucky and Murray State University.

Episode 66: 9/9/24

Episode 66 featured a set of artists whose sound resembles The Black Keys and they cover set of rock versions of songs written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Other artists featured included The Heavy, Elle King, Bruce Springsteen, Willis Alan Ramsey, Jon Batiste and The Wailin Jennys.

Episode 65: 8/26/24

It was another Top 5 night on Episode 44. Henry Hegemann of Lexington, KY submitted his Top 5 Long Songs that close out albums. His 5 artists were Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, Led Zepplin, Greta Van Fleet and The Who. And just for fun the whole show, while not all long songs, were all the last song on the album. Other artists featured were John Prine, Nirvana, Jann Arden, Public Enemy, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers & The Beatles

Episode 64: 8/19/24

CYFI Listener Silvio’s Top 5 songs were featured on episode 34. Silvio is a native of Argentina who now splits his time between New York City and Sandisfield, Massachusetts and submitted a list of international music from Argentina, France, Great Britain, Mali and Sweden. We also featured some early and present day Argentine rock ‘n’ roll and the Talking Heads were the artist featured in episode 34’s cover set.

Episode 63 featured Susan Steady of Waterford, Connecticut’s Top 5 Songs That Remind Her Of Her Father. Because Susan’s father was a first generation Italian American the entire show was Italian American artists, Italian artists and Italian songs performed by English-speaking artists. The show featured songs by Connie Francis, Elvis Presley, Tony Bennett and Italian artists Marlene Kuntz, Adriana Celentano, Luciano Pavarotti and Negrita just to name a few.

Episode 61: 7/29/24

Ian Cheney’s Top 5 Dylan Songs With The Word Baby In The Title was featured on Episode 60, how many can you name? The rest of the show was filled with some excellent covers of Bob Dylan songs and some Dylan like singer/songwriters that included Lori McKenna, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Mary Gaucher and Johnny Cash to name a few. Also featured was a wonderful story about how Ian’s son came to be named after Bob Dylan.

Episode 60: 7/22/24

Episode sixty features nothing but songs that include a brass section. Not a single trumpet or a single saxophone but at least a three-piece brass section. That went for our set of cover songs as well. We also had sets of hip-hop and Latino music. Artists featured include Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Band, Huey Lewis and the News, Public Enemy, The Buckinghams, Ojos De Brijo and Phil Collins.

The cover set for Episode 58 was three tracks from albums that were covers of another artist’s entire album including a track from Macy Gray’s cover of Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book, The Smithereen’s cover of The Who’s Tommy and Matt Nathanson’s cover of U2’s Achtung Baby. Other artists featured were The Bottle Rockets, Weathers, Beastie Boys and The Uninvited.
