This collection of 4 popular songs and one aria from the opera Turandot are all songs that was part of Susan’s relationship with her father. Some are songs that were important to her father as part of his cultural identity and a way that he taught his daughter about their shared heritage. Others are popular songs of Italian origin that were part of Susan’s life growing up. The common thread is that they are songs that are part of the way Susan has remained connected to her father after his passing.

Tony Beard of Louisville, Kentucky submitted his Top 5 Albums He Can’t Stop Listening To, a list that featured Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam, The Who and Pink Floyd.

Sean Tisdale of Lexington, Kentucky submitted his Top 5 Songs That Can Make A Grown Man Cry. His list included songs by Led Zeppelin, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones and two from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Milwaukee native and University of Kenturcky student Henry Hegemann is a vinyl collector who is a firm believer in closing albums with a strong track so he submitted is Top 5 Long Songes That Close Albums. His 5 includes songs by Stone Temple Pilots, Led Zepplin, The Who, Metellica and Greta Van Fleet.

Catherine Calame of Sheffield, Massachusetts submitted her Top 5 Desert Island Discs. She listens to these five albums at least twice a month, sometimes more if she's biking the hills around Great Barrington or running around Lake Mansfield. But this is also the story of how running music helped Catherine through two successful battles against cancer.

Usually the top Top 5 are submitted by listeners. And I was hoping I would get a Top 5 Christmas songs or Top 5 Christmas albums submission. But I did not, so in the absence of one I submitted my Top 5 Christmas albums. This year’s Top 5 Christmas albums recognizes George Winston for his LP December. George Winston passed away in 2023 so I placed him in my Top 5 for the year.
